Just for laughs: The 10 Marriage Commandments

81gyw-j0fky_large
Thinking about marriage?

Here's the top 10 commandments of marriage that would make you reconsider :P

Commandment 1
Marriages are made in heaven. But then again, so is thunder and lightning.

Commandment 2
If you want your wife to listen and pay strict attention to every word you
say, talk in your sleep.

Commandment 3
Marriage is grand -- and divorce is at least a 100 grand !

Commandment 4
Married life is very frustrating.
In the first year of marriage, the man speaks and the woman listens.
In the second year, the woman speaks and the man listens.
In the third year, they both speak and the neighbors listen.

Commandment 5
When a man opens the door of his car for his wife, you can be sure of one
thing:
Either the car is new or the wife is.

Commandment 6
Marriage is when a man and woman become as one;
The trouble starts when they try to decide which one.

Commandment 7
Before marriage, a man will lie awake all night thinking about something
you said.
After marriage, he will fall asleep before you finish.

Commandment 8
Every man wants a wife who is beautiful, understanding, economical, and a
good cook.
But the law allows only one wife.

Commandment 9
Marriage and love are purely a matter of chemistry.
That is why one treats the other like toxic waste.

Commandment 10
A man is incomplete until he is married. After that, he is finished.

BONUS COMMANDMENT STORY
A long married couple came upon a wishing well.
The wife leaned over, made a wish and threw in a penny.
The husband decided to make a wish too.
But he leaned over too much, fell into the well, and drowned.
The wife was stunned for a moment, but then smiled, 'It really works!'

Techy stuffs - ASUS and Dropbox

Was blogging halfway yesterday when my netbook decided to hang on me
(Netbook: ASUS EEE PC 1015B)
Hanging is not a big problem, as I could just force shut down it and restart again.
But yesterday's case was different.
After restarting, it prompted a "windows loading file" page, and kept restarting on itself
I couldn't find a way out of it
Until I googled with my phone, and found that the only way was to do system restore
zzzz, that means all my stuffs are gone.
And I didn't save everything in Dropbox
I suggest everyone just save whatever is important into Dropbox - the cloud-based drive
It's so easy to use and best of all, FREE
I already have 33 GB for free - 25gb comes from the Space Race (those tertiary students would know)
I've learnt my lesson now, be prepared and backup your stuffs!
You won't know when your computer just hangs and dies, dont let you important files die together!
Now I've warned you, haha, so go download Dropbox and save your files.
Really useful.

Anyway, I'm contemplating on changing my netbook.
Just a year ago, netbook was the rage, and people were saying netbook is going to be IN
Wrong, tablets and ultrabooks are.
The reason why I wanted my Eee PC 1015B was because of its small size and weight!
I don't like to carry heavy things, thus this was a good choice.
But not in terms of its functionality - its small screen makes me squint my eyes :( and we know this is bad for eyesights, so I had to increase its font size
I also hate it that my ASUS netbook gets hot easily!

I don't want a tablet either, because I prefer my keyboards to type notes
I've used the Nexus 7.

The downside is its short battery life (or maybe because I kept playing games :X).
There's a problem with starting the tablet too, I had to press the power button for so darn long zzzz
Not very user friendly in this way.
But the interface was not bad, aiya, just like our android phones lor - but BIGGER than our phones.
A tablet is good on the go, for playing games while you're bored, but not the best for note-takings
I'd rather use a pen and paper in lecture seriously.
But it's good for opening PDF files and slides - but, when you wanna edit it, that's the problem.

So, an ultrabook?
Maybe, I'll have to check out the prices first!

Till then for my next skincare reviews! ;)

Samples galore!

Headed down to Orchard yesterday in my previous post because I'd lots of stuffs to collect.
Well not exactly A LOT, but enough to make me satisfied.
Really happy :)

Collected my SAMPAR sample at Robinsons Centrepoint- this was the poreless magic peel
TBH I've never heard of this brand before
But I really love the brand colors - pastel pink and purple!
Sampar is a Paris brand
Btw, the staff was friendly.
I asked her if this product is good for all ages, as I wanted to share it with my mum.
She told me that this product is to minimize pores.
Taking a look at my skin, she told me I don't have much need for it, but I could still apply
Note that the application is not daily! Apply it twice a week (if your conditions are serious) or once biweekly.
So the moment I went home, took a bathe, I applied my toner, Laneige water bank essence, and the Sampar poreless magic peel.
Verdict: This product smells like Zambuk.
Applied it onto my nose because that's where my pores are more obvious
Felt a little pinching pain.

Went to the Estee Lauder counter next at Robinsons Centrepoint.
The staff was not as friendly though, and there wasn't any customers
The above product is the Double Wear Stay-in-place foundation.
The staff tried 2 colors on me, and told me that both colors suit me
It was up to me to choose which color I want.
Took the above in the end.
I like this foundation because it really mesh well on my skin (I'm considered really fair)
Verdict: Haven't tried it on my full face yet, but when the staff applied it on my jawline, the color was even
Also, after application, I touched my face and it wasn't very sticky (which is good)
It didn't even look like I had foundation on my jawline
pardon my messy table :P

Headed to Cozycot office at Orchard Central to collect the CIMB Cozycot freebies.
You just have to link your cozycot account with facebook.
It's as easy as that, and you'll get to receive what I got above!
Guess samples may vary for everyone?
Gonna share the above with my mum ;)

Review: Ambush & Gelateria Italia

I had an awesome date today :)
Went to Orchard, which I've not stepped into for long
Don't really like Orchard because of their overly-priced goods, I'm still a poor student you know!

Anyway, ate good food ( me thinks) today, and I've also received my samples
Yay, double happiness
Make it triple, since my bf was so nice to accompany the whole day just to get the samples and stuffs I've won

Since I had school in the morning, going down all the way to Orchard was a killer -.-
Around 1 hour of my time spent on just sitting on the MRT
By then, I was so famished!
Decided to eat at Taka, since I couldn't figure what nice food there was at Ion (any recommendations?)
I'm a really boring person, I can go to the same stall that I like everytime I stepped into that place
And one such stall is Ambush.

Ambush
I've ate at the Ngee Ann City/Takashimaya outlet for three times in the past years
It was not bad, coming from a fussy eater like me.
Love its sausages/wurst and rosti!
My love topped up $3.80 for the salad and lemon tea drink
The salad was really nice. Made me wanna make a similar version!
On the top right was my set - pork cheese sausages with spaghetti ($10.80)
And the bottom one - rosti with bockwurst ($11.80)
The last time I went, I remembered there wasn't any GST!
But oh well, not sure if I remembered wrongly, the above meal costs us $25.80
Rather decent la, Orchard food prices are roughly like this.
I particularly love the pork cheese sausages - cheese is always lovely :)
I suggest not ordering bockwurst lor, not as nice, and more expensive but my bf says otherwise.
Up to your choice!
The thing is, ORDER ROSTI! SO DAMN NICE I TELL YA
I regretted my spaghetti :(
Rosti was really good, I wanna make it at home too! Time to youtube it :D
So, if you want affordable german sausages and italian food, try Ambush!
Good for our pockets hehe
Psst, btw, there's a Jurong Point outlet too, and I remembered there was student meals there ($9.90), go try!

Gelateria Italia
Remember my post  about my Qoo10.sg coupon purchase?
I've finally redeemed it \O/
$2.80 for a big portion of gelato, so worth it!
Now you know why I'm so happy.

So many choices to choose!
I have to say, the staff at the Taka outlet was soo patient and nice.
I made the blunder of dropping my used spoon onto the new spoon box (wth, damn stupid) and felt so paiseh and guilty.
But she didn't give me a black face, oops.
And she continued to serve me with samples before I decided on what I want:
Can you guess what 3 flavours I got?

I got the lychee,  pistachio, and green tea flavours.
Not exactly the best I could choose tbh, but there were too many choices
And I'm fickle-minded -.-
Right after tasting these 3 on my cup, I sorta regretted
The green tea wasn't as nice as Tom Palette's, and the pistachio was too heavy for my liking (the sample was small and okay la)
The only flavor I liked was the lychee, but my bf doesn't.
He said the pistachio was nice
Of course everyone has different tastes!
I regret not having the dark rocher chocolate! But I may complain that it's too chocolatey and heaty T.T
And I didn't want the normal flavours like cookies and cream, tiramisu blah blah
Aiya, when you've choices its just so hard to choose lor!

But then again, really thumbs up to my deal.
I must say that if I'd to pay $9.80 for this cup - NO WAY.
But since I got the deal from qoo10.sg/gmarket at $2.80 why not right!
Anyway, I ate only a small portion of the icecream and left the rest for him.
Not an huge fan of gelato, and eating too much makes me wanna go to the toilet (which I did, stomach ache, oops)

Overall, decent meals today!
And we ate pontian + fried wanton (MY FAVOURITE!) and we saw a famous ex-actress there (woooo~)

Will blog about my goodies (what I've won and the samples) soon.

Review: Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Penetrating Oil

Received my Organix samples yesterday, just after I finished bathing.
The timing was just right.
Coming out from the shower with damp towel-dried hair, I opened the Organix Penetrating Oil (in blue).
So I followed the instructions as below:
You know, I actually like the smell of it.
After applying on my hair, my hair felt instantly tame.
It is still smooth now as I run my fingers through my hair.
My hair actually belongs to the frizzy and thick kind, which is difficult to maintain.
This penetrating oil really do wonders.
Furthermore, there wasn't any sticky feeling left on my palms.
Whatever amount I poured on my palm were instantly absorbed by my hair.
Should have took a photo of my palms after application.

It's safe for color-treated hair, sulfate-free and good for all hair types - meaning everyone can use it!
I really really love this sample.
I passed it to my mum and she likes it too!
Guess I'll buy it after the sample is finished :)

To my bf:

don't ever buy diamonds for me. i prefer gold. thanks

:P

Salad for breakfast?

Made myself salad for breakfast, and I think I'm loving it.
But what's missing is probably chicken breast meat - I need some meat in order to make the salad fulfilling.
Well, I just make the salad with whatever I have!

Salad is a great dish for everyone - because raw vegetables have higher nutrition than cooked ones (go google)
But a salad is not healthy if you add in too many cheese, bacon, and other fattening stuffs (you know it).
I'm inspired to make different kinds of salad from now on.
So, I've collated a bunch of inspiring salad dishes, that may inspire you too.
Let's feast our eyes on these shall we?

Review: Anatomicals

From my previous post, I talked about receiving a huge parcel/ hamper set from Anatomicals.
After trying a few of its products, I'm ready to review!
(I haven't tried all, because I don't have many bodies to try on)

Anatomicals is a funky cheeky brand from Britain. What sets it apart from the mainstream is its quirky and colorful wordings on their products. And boy, their packagings are LOUD in colors. There are different kinds of concoctions for your bathing needs - from coffee, to hot lava (what?) to green tea etc.

Cooking - I'm Hooked!

Hi dears, I've a new found hobby - Cooking.
I think I eat better with food I've cooked myself (Sorry, mummy!)
My mum is a very traditional Chinese cook
Our daily meals consists of rice or porridge, soup, fish and veggies
Occasionally, we'll have noodles, beehoon, yong tao foo - all Chinese style.

The first time I've ate any other cuisines, like Western, Italian was with my friends
And I guess, that was in Secondary 1 or 2?
Growing up, I've no exposure to western style of food - oh well, I remembered my mum made us french toast, but I've no idea it was "French"
Londres_soho_bills-_28_large
OMGGGG
I just thought it was a normal food that my mum made herself, and she called it Egg bread (鸡蛋面包)

doesnt it look yummy?

Happy Boy Soya Bean

Ever since Lao Ban Tao Huey became a hit, the usual soya beancurd I have for breakfast seems to pale in comparison.
I remember the first time I had it was at Maxwell
It was really delish
I was still wondering, why is there such a craze over it?
Siao, queue for 1 hour just to get taohuey, and it costs x2 of the usual taohuey I get?
But, I guess people just can't resist how soft the curd was.
To be exact, you can't call the laoban kind of tao huey, tao huey?
You should call it Soyabean pudding!

Anyway, this post is to address the number of soya pudding stalls spawning across the island.
We headed to Old Airport Road yesterday, under the damn bloody scary weather (the rain was mad yesterday, can't even see the cars in front properly)
We were seated just outside of the Happy Boy Soyabean curd stall, and Laoban was 2 stalls away (in the middle was a Rojak stall, I think it's famous, but it was closing when we got there)
If it was you, which stall would you order the beancurd from?

Personally, I wanted to try the Happy Boy beancurd because we were sitting just in front of the stall, and it was having the 1-1 promo.
But my bf wanted LaoBan, and he suggested that we ate laoban and order Happy Boy back for our families.
Well, so he went to Laoban and came back with this:
I could see the stall owners of Happy Boy looking at us (oops)
But as soon as I sank my spoon into LBTH, and ate a mouth, I looked at my bf and he too looked at me.
"It's getting worse," I said.
The quality isn't there anymore.
$1.50 for an unsatisfactory bowl. Sigh
It wasn't as soft as what I ate, it didn't melt in my mouth, it just wasn't good.

Samsung Note 2 LTE?

Am thinking whether I should get the Samsung Note 2 LTE.
But it's so expensive for my Flexi Lite plan :(
I don't think a student like me, should spend that much on a phone?
I can buy my netbook with that price you know! (fyi, I'm using the Asus Eee PC at $399)
I can even buy a Nexus 7 tablet -.-

Plus, another downside is its size.
I mean, the thing about Note 2 is its big size, which I can doodle on
But, for a girl with a small palm, it seems too big for me to handle.
I can't even put it in my pocket, which I currently can for my HTC Incredible S
See how big it is on Olivia Ong!
I am just hoping for better phones to come out by Dec, that's when my plan ends
I don't think I'm going to get an iPhone 5, because I'm not a big fan of Apple apps
Prefer android apps actually

Someone please enlighten me
Gahh!

Food & Instagram

Photo post time :)

Review: Chock Full of Beans

Tucked far far away from where I live, is a cafe that I've been wanting to go.
I first saw this cafe from food reviews on other blogs, and was attracted when they said it was affordable.
After all, there wasn't any GST and Service Charges.

So I went to Changi Village yesterday, specially for Chock Full of Beans.
Here it is, a delight under short HDBs.

Qoo10 - Gelateria Italia! Gelato Ice cream Deal

Bought my first ever coupon deal from Gmarket/ Qoo10!

You know you didn't get a bad deal when everyone reviews positively :)

$4.90 for 255g of cup Gelato at Gelateria Italia! (worth $9.80) in 5 Locations

Ain't it cheap? It's 255g, quite a big portion you know!

Think I got myself a good deal + I got it at $3.80 due to the early bird price teehee
Feels happy with my purchase, although I haven't use it!
Unfortunately, I need to utilize it by this month! Sian -.-
But it's a good thing that their 5 locations are very near my house muhahaa

Can't wait to share this with pug soon <3

UPDATED Review: Musee Platinum @ Bugis+

A few months ago, me and my bestie bought a coupon from I think Deals.com.sg for the IPL treatment at Musee.
I've been eyeing on Musee for long, because it promises fuss-free and no hardselling.
You wouldn't like them to be pushy and force you to buy packages you don't really need right?
Heard from some friends that Jean Yip does that :(

Well anyway, we knew we had to buy the coupon once it was published.
A lot of people bought it too!
It was $98 for unlimited treatment.
I figured buying it at $98 was cheaper than its proclaimed discounted price of $138.
I get to save $40 leh! (Hint: buy the coupon once you see it)
Even got a freebie:
only used it ONCE
So far, I've went for 2 treatments.
The first time there wasn't much difference, and since hair were still growing, I had to shave it off after 1 week
The 2nd time when I went back, the staff told me that I am only supposed to shave it after 2 weeks! Oops, but thanks for the advice
Anyway, she did say that results won't be so fast, and it really depends on your body!
The 2nd treatment was a little uncomfy for me.
Don't know why I felt pinching pain when they zap on my armpits T.T
Although the kind staff lowered the intensity for me, I still felt a little pain
But well, it was bearable :)
Just that my first treatment was absolutely painless! :O

Take a look at the process:
Introducing S.S.C. Hair removal

I kinda like going to the Bugis+ outlet for my treatment.
It's rather convenient for me, and after treatment, I get to shop at the nearby Bugis Village with my friend!
Its also the newest outlet, and I think me and my friend were one of the first few customers when it opened.

I can't really say if the treatment is that effective, because the armpit hairs still grows.
Will review more once treatment is ending!
But I definitely do see slower growth, furthermore, the hairs growing out are finer!

Treatment is also fast, I could get out within 1/2 hour!
So, I highly recommend Musee if you want a affordable and effective IPL treatment!

If you're interested, call the below hotline ;)

If anyone would like to quote my musee number - my id is 81031636.

PS:This is not a sponsored review

UPDATE 6 June 2013:
Just went for my 6th session.
Unfortunately, hairs under my arms are still growing - which means I've to continue my sessions!
However, I have already noted that some spots are not growing hairs anymore - hurray!
It's already a great improvement that I do not need to shave; hairs are growing at a slow rate!

So for girls who wanna join MUSEE, note that you need to be patient alright?
Hope I can see better results this time round :)

UPDATE 1 Sept 2013:
Already into my 7th session, and I'm still going.
I must say there's SIGNIFICANT improvement in my underarm.
No more unsightly hairs growing - only fine hairs.
I presume there should be no more hair growth in a few sessions' time.
YAY!

UPDATE 16 May 2014:
This is my 12th session. Idk why but it feels the same as the 7th session lol.
Talk about law of diminishing returns...
Hairs are still growing, albeit fine. Don't have to bother shaving anymore.
My problem now is BO and dark patches on the underarms! FML

Wisdom Tooth

Oh wisdom tooth, why are you present when you give me nothing but trouble trouble trouble?

I've been on a search for the most affordable dentist for my wisdom tooth extraction.
I went to ask my neighbouring dental clinic, and xray alone costs $50
If I've 3 extractions to be done, it may be ~$1000++ :(

NTU provides a dental clinic, and I saw that the prices are really cheap.
$15 for xray.
Wisdom tooth extractions may just hit $1k
But, I'm not very sure if I should do it in school!
Did you see the state of the dental clinic? T.T Old.
Not even sure if the dentist is good, although the nurse said he'd been here for 12 years.
Hmm, what should I do?

The thing is, I'm sure my wisdom teeth are impacted, from the previous xrays for my braces
But, the xray was like 7,8 years?!
Back then the wisdom tooth hasn't grown yet, so the dentist advised me to wait for it to grow before seeing if I can pluck it.

Or should I pluck it when I'm working? So that I can claim maybe, subsidies and MCs?
:(

Anyone with good advices on where to extract wisdom tooth at a good price?

Review: Madee Thai Food

Move over, Ah Loy Thai.
I've found a more worthy affordable thai food place that's comparable (or even better) than your standard!

I've been patronizing Ah Loy Thai for quite some time.
The more I went, the more disappointed I was.
The long queue, the staff's bad temper, the smaller portion and the increasing price really gets on my nerves.
Furthermore, there's GST and Service Charge when they dont even provided good service!

Just came back from an affordable Thai food place at Clementi West ;)
I doubt this place is famous, but the food is good and CHEAP.
Let the photos do the talking.
Prices range around $5++
Phad Thai: $4.50. Decent.

$5. My bf loves this. But it was too spicy for me (I've a weak stomach). Overall, the best deal - a lot of ingredients inside.

Prawn paste + mango. $5 - decent, but I'd prefer it without mango. Thought the mango was those sweet kind, but its actually unripe ones. Really sour. Don't really enjoy it. $5 is expensive.
We ordered a plate of kangkong for $4.
Sadly, I forgot to take a photo of it!
Anyway, it wasn't a worthy buy I think.
My mum cooks it better :D
And vegetable for 4dollars, where got HUA SUAN!

There's still a lot of options to explore.
Total damage for 2 people was $19.
Hello, WITHOUT GST AND SERVICE CHARGE
And the lady serving us was nice.
She asked if I needed an extra plate :)
Probably we went a little before dinner time ~ 5pm so there wasn't much crowd.

If you want something for a change, other than Ah Loy (because it's really getting overrated), head over to Madee Thai!

Streetdeal: $25 Hair Coloring + Treatment

$25 for Hair Coloring or Technical Highlights + Shiseido Water Spa Treatment + Wash + Blow (worth $230) at Exchange Hair Plus, Plaza Singapura

This is my first purchase on Streetdeal.sg,

and my first ever purchase on online coupons.
Hope it's pleasant.

I did a google on Exchange Hair Plus and there was NOTHING GOOD about it.Damn it.
Should have googled before I buy, but too bad, buy liao cannot back out zzz

I called the person and asked if there was any limit to hair length.

Some salons charge extra for longer hair length, but the woman on the phone told me NO.
Better be! If not I'll blog negatively.
People said they do hardselling too.
I am going to tell myself, DONT BUY! But you know, I'm a very soft-hearted person, and is very easily persuaded :(

See: http://www.businesslist.sg/review/130

If anybody has any comments about this salon, do let me know!

Although I've already bought it, at least I'll be educated on what I can avoid hehe

Review: Holika Holika Blackhead Sponge Hot Scrub

Bought this in Seoul over a year ago, and I'm still using it.
That's because I only need/used a small portion on my nose.
I've pretty much flawless skin complexion (haha, so buay paiseh)
Except for really bad blackheads on my nose.
I seldom have pimples probably because my skin is dry.
Anyway, I think skin conditions mostly rely on genes la.
If you've a lot of pimples, it's probably gotta do with oily complexion!

Anyway, back to blackheads.
These irritating monsters are really ugly, sitting on my nose.
And the worst part is, I can't seem to get it off
So after stepping into Holika shop near Ewha Womans University, I saw the Blackhead remover.

And the staff told me that this was really effective
(Sigh, of course they will say effective la)

The thing is, I've been using it for the past 1 year.
Any improvements?
NO.

The only thing is that, you'll feel a hot sensation after you applied the scrub on your nose.
It feels as though the stuff is working!
But once you remove it...nah. No effect one :(

The good side to it is, it makes squeezing out your blackheads easier.
I seriously think that's the only solution for me.
SADLY, it always grow back even after I've removed it.

Sigh, blackheads please go away!

Anyway, did a search and found a video by MichellePhan on how to make your own pore strip!

Looks cool!
But, don't think I'll be trying it hahaha - I'm just too lazy

Dawson's Place Hong Kong Street Tze Char

Came back from a very full dinner
But full does not equate to delicious.

I was craving for chilli crabs yesterday and told my mum I want to eat it today.
So we went to Dawson's Place for our dinner.
Sigh, bad choice.
I'm feeling too full and sick from the salted egg yolk crabs, more on that later.

These are what we ordered:

Different kinds of eggs - chicken, salted egg and century egg + soup + veg

One of the blandest tofu I've ever tasted. If not for the sauce, there's no taste at all.

Fried chicken with prawn paste? Wait a minute, I didnt eat any prawn paste?

s
Salted egg yolk crab - SO DISAPPOINTING
First of all, the total damage was $56
For 4 people.
Crab was $24 for 2 - cheap I know. But not all cheap things are good.
The crab was just too dry for my liking
I was merely finishing it so as to fill my stomach.
Grumbling all the way about the crab.
All the above dishes were below average.
The other dishes were $10, rice was 50 cents each.
Really (N)

I'd rather spend $10+ on other meals than this.
Feel like puking as I type.

If you still feel like trying, well,
it's at Dawson's Place
Level 2 - Food court.
57 Dawson Road, Singapore 142057

Good luck.
