8 months into the job

If you've been following me (who cares right), you'd know that I've only entered the job market 8 months ago.
Today, I feel like penning down my thoughts on this 8 months work journey.

I remember looking forward to work in the 1st month. I slept well, go to work, learn new things, laughed, had fun, slacked a bit, and end work on time.
It was great.
Slowly (or "fastly"), work piled up.
Boss forwarded more tasks for me to do. I knew nothing. And so, I had to thicken my skin and shamelessly pester my boss for help.
I thank god that my boss is a male, and is ever so gracious to teach. He is kind and patient.
But of course, there are times when he makes me irritated, because he is not very efficient...okay, that's because he had to do so many things and barely have time to clear emails...I get it.

There came a point of time when I felt down.
Today, I felt it again.
Nothing major happened. Nobody scolded me, but I was quite affected by a girl's action.
Somehow, I felt like people don't really treat me with respect?
I feel like people aren't scared of me, or respect me because I don't look zai?
Because, I have no seh?
I just feel that people kinda look down on me, and don't think that I can make it big.

I don't know. I just feel kinda crappy today.
Low self-worth.

Another thing I dislike is my colleague. There's a particularly bitchy colleague who keeps forwarding email to do.
She's not even my boss. I don't mind helping out if she's nice. But she's not.
She has the lousiest temper and acts like a spoilt brat. She talks rudely as well.
I'm ok if she forwards things for me to take action, if she guides me.
But no, she don't.

I don't exactly hate my job. There're aspects which I love:

  1. I love what I'm doing. I think there're things that keeps me going
  2. I love some of my colleagues. At least I've colleagues whom I can go for lunch with.
  3. I love how I have some colleagues whom I can chit chat with.
  4. I like my boss, at least he guides me.
There're also aspects I dislike:
  1. I feel like I'm slightly underpaid, which I am, compared to others with the same class of honours
  2. That bitchy colleague who makes things difficult
  3. Having to deal with so much paperwork just to go ahead with something
  4. Colleagues from other departments who are unappreciative
And here are some unknowns that I'm concerned about:
  1. Does my boss really like me?
  2. Does he/she think I'm capable?
  3. Does people think I'm capable, and able to make it to a higher post?
  4. How can I portray myself to be confident, fluent and of a high-calibre?

To me, work is a way to keep my mind occupied.
It's for me to earn money. I know I won't be able to get my 1st million before I reach 30s.
This place is not to strike it rich.
I want to have a decent income to lead a comfortable life.
I do hope I fulfil my dreams.

10 things to do in JB: 2D1N Johor Bahru trip - City Square & KSL Part 2

Judging from the overwhelming number of views for my previous post, I know many are trawling the web looking for places to go in JB.
I'm not adventurous when it comes to Malaysia. I'm scared of the crimes we so often see in our papers, so I tend to just stick to places I deem safe.

So, on Saturday, we headed to Kranji to take the bus into Woodlands Checkpoint.
Man, the queue was so longgg and we waited around 20 mins to get our passports chopped!

KSL

1. Kinsahi - RM87

Since we were celebrating our anniversary, we weren't mindful about budget. So, we ate as we deem fit heh.
The service at Kinsahi was good, the food, only decent.

2. Movies- RM28

Watched Spiderman 2 and it was awesome.

3. KSL Hotel

Headed to our hotel to put down our things. Had a comfortable stay there (cause its free, muhahaha)

4. D'Laska - RM 5

My must have when I'm here at KSL.

5. Thai Mango Sticky Rice - RM 6

6. Maison durian puff - RM 2.80

7. Blackball - RM 6.90

Another must-have. We tried to be adventourous and ordered something else with pudding and green bean.
Terrible mistake. Always stick with Blackball's Signature.

8. Manicure at Nail Studio

I don't recommend you here for your nails because the shop is packed and the staff.....are not exactly patient.
This particular manicurist is rushing everything and didn't do a good job.
But well, I'll let it pass.

 9. Dimsum - less than rm60?

The next day breakfast, we came here for dimsum and I love it!
It is empty when I took the photos because we were the first customers -.-. That's the good thing about staying upstairs at KSL hotel haha.
Shortly after, it was packed.

Dislike

MUST-TRY!
This is the special rice wine xiaolongbao. Pls order this when you're there!
very average

Please do not buy this bowl of wanton. It sucks!

City Square

10. Bornga - RM 80

Another must-eat place whenever I come to JB. It's slightly cheaper than eating korean bbq in Singapore!

Department of Caffeine

Came here for my lunch break and I really enjoyed my lunch with my colleagues.

Particularly love the smoked salmon with scrambled eggs which prompted me to make my own version at home!
However, I'm not a big fan of smoked salmon because they were too salty for my liking.
DOC's scrambled eggs were done really well :)

I know people go cafes to drink caffeine, especially the name of this cafe has the caffeine in it.
But, I'm not a fan of coffee.
That said, the cafe was filled with coffee aroma, and it was nice sitting in there, enjoying every bits of the cafe.
Thumbs Up!

Lola's Cafe

Well Lola, the thing about you is that you serve really awesome food at a decent price.
The downside is, WHY R U SO POPULAR THAT THERE'S A MEGA LONG WAITING TIME?
ME AINT GOT NO PATIENCE YA KNOW.

Heh, kidding.
I am proud of myself for travelling to Kovan to dine at Lola's cafe.
What's more, we went at 11 and only got a seat at like 11.45am?
There were already lots of people waiting. Some come and go because they freaked out and shook their heads after hearing the waiting time.
"You have to wait around 1 hour, miss"
"Wah lao eh, dear, 1 hour leh, you wanna wait not?"
"Siao bo, 1 hour jiak simi, mai la."
And off they went. (I made the dialogue up)

But my bf and I stuck around. Sadly, there was NOTHING to explore around Lola's.
So we stood there for...45 mins. Applause please.
And what a joke, we got the window/sofa seat because there weren't seats left and I readily agreed to it.
Aiya, I just wanted to GET A SEAT.
Little did I know, the sofa seat is the most awkward seat evaaaaaaa.
We were like stalkers looking at everyone, and I really did.
Nobody look into my direction. Either I look hideous, which I think not la hahaha, or people were just avoiding my gaze.
After all, seating at the tiny sofa is...awkward.

Eating food from the low table top, was even more awkward.
Thank God I wasn't wearing low neck top. You get what I mean?

Food, like I said, was awesome.
We had the chocolate whatever thing you called it.

And the hotdog with nacho cheese plus generous amount of fries

As well as the cheesy mushroom meltzzzzzz
I love it!
We were full and had a great time(????) sitting at the sofa seat.
The above costs us less than $30, me thinks. Since I wasn't the one paying, I can't recall heh.
