Looks or Height / She was Pretty
Random post - Would you prefer your man to have the looks or the height?
I choose height ;)
-
Anw, it's been long since I got excited about a Korean male celeb. Chanced upon Park Seo Joon and was immediately attracted by his looks and smile :D
Used to prefer men with big eyes and double eyelids, but my bf has small eyes and single eyelids -.- I find Seo Joon's eyes and smile really mesmerising! So does his dimples!
Maybe I should get my bf to enlarge his eyes more.

-
Just started watching She was Pretty because Park Seo Joon is acting in it.
Feeling really emotional watching it. I could relate to "Kim Hye Jin" - the feeling of being looked down on, lack of confidence, always subordinating under others, and...the feeling of meeting your crush.
I recall hiding and reacting crazily when my crush is walking towards me and feeling shocked in every encounter with him in school. Also, the feeling of your heart beating really fast because you know he is always stealing glances at you but you never dare to see him eye to eye.
Ah, such is my past. How interesting to recall these memories in my schooling years.
Every guy I met and liked in school gave me different feelings. The one in secondary school was cheeky and fun to talk to. That was my "first love". The feelings were mutual but we never got together officially...as much as he wants me to enter his JC, I never did and so, it was "goodbye"
The one in JC was the most exciting. Someone whom I never knew, but just admire afar just because he resembles somebody :P More exciting thing was knowing that he likes me. And how another guy in his class likes me as well - what a surprise. Thankful to him for making my 2 years in JC so exciting and memorable hehe
And the last ones. Interesting.
I sound boastful but the guys I have good feelings for all happen to have good feelings for me as well. I am aware of their feelings but, it all boils down to fate on who you end up with.
I'm now with this guy who well...doesn't really give me super romantic feelings as time passes by, but the feeling of stability shows how secure and comfortable I am with him. More importantly, he takes care of me.
Ah, I digressed. I conclude that I've officially grow old and will continue growing old as a hag. I'm also getting unattractive as days go back.
Hopefully, my other half doesn't mind (:

Money Saving "tips" - 11.11 ONLINE SALES ARE EVERYWHERE $$$$
Hola! I know I'm lazy when I've so much things to share here (eg. my travel to TW, good food I ate in Singapore) but am just pure lazy to type.
Not sure what prompted me to type something here, but I guess I'm just trying to create verbal vomit hehe
Ok, so it's 11 November today AND I SPECIALLY TOOK LEAVE TO DO ONLINE SHOPPING.
:'( please don't laugh at me.
There are things that I wanna buy but am holding out just for the sales today.
But then ah, I just realised, most of the things, don't need to wait for today to buy one -.-
Here are some money savings tips I can offer (machiam like I'm some financial guru liddattzzz haha):
1. Sign up for newsletters from sites like lazada, groupon, deals.com.sg and even BLOGSHOPS! You'll keep posted on their sales
2. Buy only when you see SALES (if possible) To me, I don't really need to spend $30 on new arrivals la. Sale items that are $20+ also ok - I'm not a model or celebrity anyway :P
Happy shopping and rmb, keep to your budget!

- Do you know I recently bought 5 dresses & tops for $70-$80? Bought it during a blogshop sale :D
- U.P for those range from $20+-$30+ ok!
3. Make use of cashback sites like shopback. I recently cashed out $20 - might as well get some $ back from my shopping right!
4. Make use of credit card rebates. There are credit cards that offer rebates for eg. $500 spend on the credit card. Use it for big ticket items!
Happy shopping and rmb, keep to your budget!

Ho Chi Minh Trippin - 3D2N under SGD$200
Ho Chi Minh or Saigon was unexpectedly enjoyable. I had fun, ate good food, and enjoyed lovely time with my boy just strolling around and slurping on their deliciously fragrant and smooth coffee. Excluding accommodation (I stayed in Edenstar Saigon) and air tix (took Tiger), we spent exactly SGD$200 for our trip expenses. #budgetbutweboughtwhatwewanted #notcheapskate
There are 2 Phuc Long shops near our hotel within walking distance - 1 near Ben Thanh Market and the other near to Starbucks.
I recommend you to try their Peach Tea with real peaceh goodness; nearly everyone in the shop drinks that! We also tried their mint latte and cafe latte. Just try anything in the store and we guarantee that you'll love it.

Day 1 lunch was the best of the trip, possibly due to us being really hungry after our flight, but the food was really tooo good and set the expectations up high. This place is Yen's Restaurant located at Yen's Hostel where we had the best spring rolls and pho!

We also realised that passionfruit juice is really popular here. This drink is sold everywhere - even our hotel breakfast buffet has it, but we're not complaining because the fruit juice was really refreshing under a hot day.

Day 1 dinner was spent with the Saigon Walking Tour girls who brought us around on their scooters and bikes. Awesome time scooting around the roads, and the traffic was so bad man! But these 2 girls managed to bring us to our locations safe and sound. Also enjoyed good food with them for 4 hours. Yay!

Day 2 dinner was at L'Usine. Saw really good reviews of this cafe and told my boy that we should go. Had a hard time finding this place. But I do not recommend you to come here, unless you really love exploring cafes around the world. This place was disappointing in terms of food, price and service. I ordered their creamy linguine and was chewing halfway when I realised something I chewed was inedible. Sh*t. It was actually plastic. Informed the waiter who only apologised and didn't offer to change a new plate for me. Forget it, shan't kick up a big fuss since I was there to enjoy.
No doubt the ambience was decent, but I'd rather have my Vietnamese food anytime. Regret coming here cause we spent a bomb compared to the usual food we had. Oh well, experience counts.
We were walking around aimlessly for lunch on Day 3 before we head to the War Remnants Museum. Entered the Cô Ba Vũng Tàu Restaurant where we had banh khot, the incredibly delicious mini pancakes topped with shrimps and pork, and fried spring rolls. Salivating for more right now. I don't have the pictures of banh khot cause I was too famished to take a proper photo. Credits to the restaurant's website for the pic below. Don't they look yummy?
The waiter there was really nice and taught us how to eat banh khot - wrapped it on with veggies, dipped into fish sauce and slurp it down. Feels like eating Korean BBQ. Both are equally delish. They also gave how free fruits after our meal. How sweet!

We also headed the the Pedestrian Street at HCM city, a newly opened stretch of pavement for people to walk about. It was nice seeing youths singing and dancing there at night!

You may also visit the Skydeck at Bitexco where you could see nearly the whole of HCM from Level 50 and above. Or you could also enjoy the incredibly expensive balls of icecream - SGD6 for 1 scoop, can you believe it? Lol, but well, all for the view.
After our lunch on Day 3, we headed to the War Remnants Museum. Shan't bore you with pics, so take a look at the museum if you're there.

Headed to the airport for our flight back to Singapore. Had enough money left for one last bowl of pho. The pho was soooo good that even namnam can't be compared to that.
That concludes our 3D2N tour in HCM. A right choice to venture there :)
Food to try:
Speaking of coffee, it is a must try over at HCM. My favourite coffee chain is Phuc Long - vaguely similar to Starbucks but it's slightly cheaper. There are 2 Phuc Long shops near our hotel within walking distance - 1 near Ben Thanh Market and the other near to Starbucks.

Transportation:
For transportation within HCM, we took only cabs from these 2 brands: Vinasun and Mai Linh. Be wary of fake taxis that will ripped you off your money. Thank god our trip went well as our taxis were all metered. Trips range from S$2 to S$10+ (for our trip to the airport), affordable I'd say!
Places to visit
We were brought to the Notre Dame Cathedral and Saigon Post Office on Day 1 night. Ventured there on Day 2 as well as there was nothing much to sightsee in HCM city.

Regrets
I regret not studying harder.
Or was I not smarter?
I regret not doing well for PSLE
and then Os
and then As.
I regret not being able to study in the top universities, from Oxford to Cambridge to UC Berkley.
I regret I didn't make the mark when I was young.
Now I'm no longer young.
I look back with regrets.
Regretting that I didn't get excellent grades, didn't get scholarships.
I regret not being a better person.
I regret being dislike.
I regret people do not look up to me.
I regret feeling overly-conscious of myself that I sometimes make a fool.
I regret my stupidity.
I regret my actions.
Or do I really regret?
I am still in a good place.
I graduated in a local U, with Honours.
I secured a decent job, enough to make ends meet as long as I plan my finances carefully.
I've my family.
I've my man.
They love me.
I may not have the most admiring factors.
I may not be well-liked.
But I am well alive and kicking.
I live my life, and I don't need to give a shit about what others say.
I regret, but I should not.

Reflections
I have been neglecting this space, not because I've nothing to blog about, but because I'm
1. lazy
2. cannot be bothered after depleting my energy at work.
I've been working for 2 years now.
The 1st 6 months was spent learning a lot since I had no formal work experiences.
I was meek and agreed to do things readily. I met lousy colleagues but by the 8th mth, they'd left.
Then the next 6 mth was when I started to get a hang of things. As people left, I had to hold bigger responsibilities despite being a "newbie".
I learnt fast, and had to deliver fast as well.
Expectations on me became higher, and by the 1st year, I was doing pretty well for a newbie.
Then came the 2nd 6 month after the 1st year.
I got the hang of things and was tasked to make decisions.
But it was so hard to swallow because I still do not have a helicopter view of things.
It was also hard to manage staff - the older staff were easier to manage as they follow hierarchy.
Since I'm their boss, they'd follow what I directed, and offer advices when they dont agree. I was open to their suggestions because they were respectful.
The younger staff, wtf, because I was younger than them, they dont give a f. I treat them as friends, but I realised after a while that lines has to be drawn.
They gossiped about me, and when I ask them to do work, they don't follow.
It was hard to have your subordinates not following your instructions, and I feel like a failure. I thought my directions were clear enough! Only the older staff listened.
One of them left and it felt like good riddance. The other turned better but started gossiping about my colleague who is now his boss.
In the 2nd 6 months leading to the 2 years mark, I felt lethargic.
My colleagues said I smile less. I looked stress.
People come and leave and I had to take on their scopes.
There was no clear directions from the bosses as well, yet they had high expectations and demanded good end results.
Everyone is working in stressed modes and the only time I felt happy was
1. lunch time
2. 630pm.
Even then, during lunch, I'd feel stress thinking about the things I need to complete in the later half of the day.
I also face stress handling colleagues from different departments.
What the shit is this thing about ONE company? Bullshit
Everyone is so selfish and all these people in high-positions only know how to send a LONG EMAIL shooting you and dissing what we do.
Nobody empathises that we are running on LOW MANPOWER.
All these officers know is to complain or point faults at us.
I also face shits from external people. People who think they are all-mighty and don't care about you, because you are just a small fry in the organisation.
There are so many evil people in the organisation that I feel so disgusted by.
How can Singapore breed such people with high IQ and low EQ. Worst, some of them have low IQ and EQ!
Why is it that people in the corporate world are so mean and uncaring?
Those that are nice and caring are always left at the bottom and being scolded by.
These people are always bypassed for promotions.
Something is wrong with our system where those who wayang most, are the most forceful, climb up to the top.
I still have 42 years more to retirement, WTF, and I am already feeling quite hopeless.
I believe the future gen entering the workforce would be another problem to handle.
Alas, this is life.

10 mini habits that will make you more successful at work
source: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/10-mini-habits-make-you-more-successful-work-bernard-marr#ixzz3aDaDIlJl
1. Shut off alerts on your phone. All those dings and beeps and pop-ups are incredibly distracting. It's understandable that you might not want to turn your phone completely off while at work, but at least turn off all your notifications and alerts. You'll be shocked at how much more you'll get done when you're not checking it every 10 seconds.
I mostly put my phone on vibration mode - honestly, 99% of the time, I've no chance to touch my phone...except, in the toilet.
The toilet is where I have my break. Oh God.
2. Get organized. If your desk and files are organized, you'll spend less time searching for things and more time working productively. Beyond the obvious benefits, though, it also makes you look more put together and successful. The next time your boss drops by for a chat, he won't be looking at a week's worth of paper and protein bar wrappers, but rather the workspace of someone who's got it together.
Well, this might be true but HEY! MY DESK IS A ORGANIZED MESS haha. Actually, I take a bit of time finding where my papers are, because I've too many on my desk.
3. Add estimated times to your to-do list. A to-do list itself is good, but things that get scheduled are more likely to get done. One easy way to start is by writing down approximately how long you think each task will take when making your to-do list. Then you can easily see what will fit into your day and make more accurate estimates of when you can finish a project or task. Take the next logical step and slot the tasks into the hours of your day, and you'll always know what you should be working on.
I don't do this. It might waste more of my time thinking about it!
4. Implement the 2-minute rule. It's a pretty well known productivity rule that if a task will take less than two minutes, you should do it right away. But what if your entire morning gets eaten up with two minute tasks? In that case, schedule two minute drills during the day. Give yourself an hour when you get in, half an hour after lunch, and half an hour before you leave for the day to take care of those niggling little tasks (like answering emails and returning phone calls) so they're off your list before the next day.
People know that I'm very fast in replying emails and doing work. I try to clear simple emails ASAP, but for those that needs further discussion, shit, I'm stuck. Well, good tip to note.
5. Make bad habits harder. Whatever your bad work habit is — eating candy from the vending machine, gossiping with colleagues, or eating lunch at your desk — do whatever you can to make it harder to give into. Stop carrying cash for the vending machine, plan meetings during your normal gossip time, or make yourself go to the local sandwich shop for lunch.
I need to gossips to stay sane. I need to talk to colleagues, otherwise, I feel that work is a shitty place.
6. Work in bursts; take your breaks outside. Science tells us that people work better in short, focused bursts. Figure out what your ideal work length is (anywhere from 20–55 minutes, generally) and then set a timer to make yourself take a break when that period is up. Then, go outside for 5–10 minutes. Getting up, away from your computer, moving, and getting some fresh air will refresh you and make it easier to get back to work.
Ah no, I don't really have breaks. My breaks are when I refill my water, or when I go toilet. But I do all these really fast - I walk damn fast to the pantry, and walk damn fast to the toilet.
7. Designate yourself morale officer. Set up company-wide email alerts when there's free food in the break room. Organize a monthly happy hour or cake morning. Bring coffee and doughnuts to the meeting. Being likeable is a great way to make important contacts, stand out in a positive way, and generally be more successful. It's easy to take just a little extra step to be more positive and generally more likeable with your team and company.
I'm generally likeable in the office, which I'm proud of. But, it's sad that we don't have much of such "happy" sessions. Maybe it can start from me!
8. Upgrade your personal presentation. You've heard the old adage to dress for success? It's the truth. The clothes do indeed make the man (and woman) to some extent, as you will make a better first impression and come across as already more successful with an upgraded wardrobe.
Ah! I want to dress for success, but my kid-face ruins it (although there are people who thought I'm a mother with kids, FML)!
9. Focus on your long-term goals. It may seem simple to say, but if you don't keep your long-term goals front-of-mind, you're likely to get caught up in day-to-day minutiae and neglect them. Post your goal somewhere you can see it, add it to the wallpaper of your phone or desktop of your computer, and then make daily decisions based on whether or not they move you closer to that goal.
Eh? What's my LT goal? I don't even know. I find adding it as wallpaper etc don't help since I'll ignore them. Ok, LT goal, how about, earning $10,000 before 40? LOL
10. Smile. Sound silly? It's not. Being positive is one of the main traits successful people share. Even if you don't feel particularly positive, pasting a smile on your face can actually help trick your body (and your mind) into being more positive. Plus, it makes you come across as friendly and likeable, another predictor of success. And it will make you feel better. A win/win all around.
Yes, I smile to others in the office but I realise A LOT doesn't smile back ...

It's understandable that you might not want to turn your phone completely off while at work, but at least turn off all your notifications and alerts.

18 Signs You're With the Man You Should Marry
1. He always brags about you. If you get a promotion at work or even just win concert tickets, he can't resist telling everyone you hang out with before you even think to mention it. Because he's your biggest fan (arguably next to your mom).
- sometimes it's better not to be too braggy. not many people likes having things about them known to everyone.
2. He makes sacrifices for you — and you're happy to do the same for him. He'll move cities to live with you if you get a new job or finish grad school. You're happy to make the next move for one of his opportunities.
-not sure
3. He shares the same values as you. You know you both want kids and expect to split the child care equally. Or maybe you know you both want kids and he wants to take extended paternity leave. Maybe you've also agreed that you should each get 45 minutes to yourself to go to the gym every day, or you plan to buy a home and move to the suburbs in five years. You know you're on the same page with things that matter most to you because you've discussed them.
-kinda
4. Even after years together he still does little chivalrous things for you. Like open doors for you, or carry you to your doorstep when your feet hurt after wearing high heels all day and you just can't bear to walk one more block.
- like massaging my back on the escalator
5. He doesn't try to change you. He knows you're messier than him, that you always need a pet cat, and can't cook to save your life, and all of that is all right by him.
- kinda
6. When you think about marrying him, the best part isn't the wedding, it's the idea of spending your lives together. The wedding is fun, but you really can't wait for the two weeks right after when you'll get uninterrupted honeymoon time.
- the worst part is thinking of the wedding, who to invite, how much to budget. worst is, i've so many people i don't like. i'd rather use the money on my honeymoon. but yeah, the idea is having a lifelong companion, a real best friend
7. You survived a long-distance relationship. It was hard and scary, but you love each other so much that you were able to make the necessary sacrifices to make it through with a singular goal in mind: living in the same place and being together when it was all over.
-NA
8. "I miss you" isn't just a sweet thing you say. It's a reality. Even if it hasn't been that long (like, two hours) since you saw each other.
-sometimes
9. You don't like having a roommate and love having your own space, but you'd still prefer to live with him.You look forward to the end of the day, not because you'll be done with work but because you'll get to see him again.
-sometimes
10. He's your go-to person whenever you have a story to share, about work, about friends, about anything. You used to tell your parents and friends about all these things, but now you don't call them quite as much as you used to. They don't mind because they see how happy you are.
- yes
11. You feel comfortable planning things six months — or a year — into the future. You're not worried you'll have to cancel plane tickets or say you won't be needing a plus-one after all. You feel that confident in your relationship.
- yes
12. You can cry in front of him without feeling embarrassed. He knows when to worry and when you're just caught up in a scene of a movie.
- yes
13. When your friends complain about their significant others or the guys they've gone out with, you get kind of quiet because you don't have much to contribute. You don't want to brag, but you just don't have to deal with any of that nonsense because your significant other is great to you.
-kinda
14. He's close with your family, and he's made sure you've gotten to know his. He'll call your dad or your grandma without any hesitation. It just makes sense that you'd go to his nephew's birthday party, even if he's not there.
-kinda for the first sentence. no for the 2nd.
15. He cares about your friends. If one of them is having a bad day, he suggests you go spend time with her or invite her to join the two of you for dinner. If he hasn't heard someone's name in a while, he asks how she's doing.
-i have no friends. lol
16. He lets you vent. Sometimes when something frustrates you, you just need to go over it again and again. He doesn't get annoyed at this, and he dismisses your apologies. The only thing that bothers him about the situation is that you're upset and he wishes you weren't.
- not really. sometimes i feel more angry venting to him because he doesnt sympathise
17. He tells you, out of the blue, that you look hot. And it's on the day you didn't dry your hair or put on makeup or even change out of your T-shirt and sweatpants.
- once in a blue moon. more like, "omg y u so ugly", just like how i say him everytime
18. You can do things like travel together without fighting all the time. We've all seen (or been) that tragic couple fighting over where to get lunch at the airport so badly that one of them devolves into tears and puts her shades on indoors and lies across three seats in the terminal. You can do tedious things with your S.O. without all this fighting.
-kinda

1 day JB trip - again
Ever since I discovered JB - my "heaven" of delicious yet affordable food, I've been going there frequently.
With the strong SGD, food there are slightly cheaper as well.
This is a short post to document what I had!
1. Penang Chendul
If you read my blog on my Penang trip, you'd found out that the Famous Teochew Chendul in Penang is the bomb!
Tried this in City Square at x2 the price, but in a bigger portion. Oh my, it was heavenly.
Bf was hungry so he ordered another assam laksa and he gobbled it all up :( ok la, I wasn't really hungry.
But now I'm salivating typing this
2. Blackball dessert
Dessert is never enough. Tried this next at KSL and I feel happy chewing on those taro and sweet potato balls.
OMG I'm missing it.
Will try not to eat this in Sg since it's cheaper in JB -.-
4. Dontaku Jap food
Had this for dinner at 7 plus. I was famished. Since we've not dine here before, we gave it a shot.
Really value for money meal. Look at this set! This is just one set of grilled eel!!
There's miso, chawanmushi, rice, grilled eel, salad, crispy chicken and salmon sashimi.
And...it was all GOOD.
Singapore jap restaurants need to buck up man.

That sums up my 1 day trip of eat and chill.
Can't wait to go back again

I will always have this when I'm at KSL. Slurped down this bowl with bf and we feel happy.
He felt the assam laksa was tastier at Penang Chendul store but I very much prefer this

10 Reasons to take a Cruise - 5D4N Costa Cruise - Langkawi and Phuket
Happy CNY Everyone!
Back to update on my cruise. The cruise was a month back (felt like it was eons ago) and I'm hoping to go on another cruise trip soon!
I enjoyed my Costa Cruise trip very much and here are the 10 reasons why:
1. "Free" Shows
There are entertainment programmes laid out everyday and these are truly entertaining.
I labelled it as "free" because it's paid for in your cruise fees.
We watched all the shows ranging from magic to musical to performance by "Michael Jackson"
2. Free-flow food in high-class restaurants

The food ranges from pasta, burgers to desserts and fruits. We were well-fed.
I don't particularly fancy Italian food, but all these were passable - not the most fantastic I've eaten, but good enough
3. Travelled to Phuket!
Take a look at our majestic ship from Patong beach!
Thai food at Phuket
4. Travelled to Langkwai
Langkawi was really boring but at least we got to eat some local food which made me happy! I very much prefer non-Western food please.
6. Enjoying the facilities onboard the ship
Facilities range from gym, indoor jaccuzzi and outdoor pool.
Look at the pools! Well, don't expect to swim here. All we did was just dip ourselves into the outdoor jacuzzi.
Mind you, it was freaking hot and sunny.
7. Exciting night event on the last night
Poolside party, anybody?
One of the highlight for us was winning a cup of cocktail LOL.
We also attended short quizzes and Italian language crash course (although I forgot almost everything).
9. Excellent housekeeping services
Our rooms were kept really clean whenever we leave and come back. They even folded cute animals to welcome us back!
10. Watching sunset with your other half
Too bad we were too lazy to wake up for sunrise - it was good to sleep in.
